The Convention on the Rights of the Child, also known as CRC (1989), defines a child as any person under the age of eighteen (18) years. Institutions that guarantee and protect the Rights of the Child There exist many organisms that guarantee and protect your rights at different levels. For instance, at a local level you can find the Personería municipal and the National police. This latter also operates at a regional and national level, and even collaborates with international agencies. At a regional level you can find more independent, private organizations called NGO, as they are non-governmental. Then, at a national level, we have the ICBF and the Defensoría del Pueblo, which protect especially the family. At the international level, there are several organizations whose objectives include guaranteeing the most fundamental rights such as health, nutritious food, clean air and water, education, and so on (see Figure 1).
