Body systems The systems of the human body permit us to perform vital functions. Our bodies consist of a number of biological systems with specific functions necessary every day. There are different systems in the human body that help keep us functioning. The systems of the body include: the digestive, the circulatory, the excretory, the respiratory, the reproductive, etc. What is the most important system? What is the most interesting for you? Let's start with the digestive system. The digestive system Human beings need energy to live and function. We eat food to obtain energy. When we eat, our bodies digest the food and produce energy. Digestion is the process by which food substances are changed into nutritional substances necessary for our bodies. The digestive system  consists of organs that allow (=permit) the body to absorb food and convert it into energy and basic nutrients, and remove waste. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, also known as CRC (1989), defines a child as any person under the age of eighteen (18) years. Institutions that guarantee and protect the Rights of the Child There exist many organisms that guarantee and protect your rights at different levels. For instance, at a local level you can find the Personería municipal and the National police. This latter also operates at a regional and national level, and even collaborates with international agencies. At a regional level you can find more independent, private organizations called NGO, as they are non-governmental. Then, at a national level, we have the ICBF and the Defensoría del Pueblo, which protect especially the family. At the international level, there are several organizations whose objectives include guaranteeing the most fundamental rights such as health, nutritious food, clean air and water, education, and so on (see Figure 1). Passport English A1 (Pasaporte Inglés A1)

The project "Pasaporte Inglés A1" is indeed an acronym that stands for " P royecto para el a prendizaje s ignificativo mediante a ctividades p edagógicas or ientadas a te máticas [de otras áreas] en inglés , nivel A1 ". Although it has first been intended for 5th grade (primary school) students, this project will cover all primary section, that is from 1st to 5th grade, and will help level the English knowledge and performance of our students, as it is mandated by the National Government and the Ministry of Education. This project is a strategy for our students to feel identified  and motivated to participate in this curricular innovation, and valued in the construction of their own reality, on a personal and social level. It also intends to grant and validate in our students the following rights: 1. To a quality education in different areas of knowledge. 2.
